We Are All Human
My reasons for starting this blog make up a very short list.
1.) To share my passion with people and be able to teach, educate & share with them health & fitness topics, easy enough.
2.) To show that we are all human.
For years, being on Instagram actually frustrated me, because I would naturally follow fitness focused accounts for inspiration, but in the end I realised every time one of their photos popped up on my news feed, I actually felt like shit. I am just being honest here. They not only looked perfect all the time, but they seemed to be so strict with their diet & somehow only had one cheat meal a week, if any. I would in turn look in the mirror and think, “Jeez, I am so weak?” “I don’t know how they do it.” “What is wrong with me?” “Why can’t I be that strict?” “Why can’t I look that good?” “Why do my photos suck & theirs look like a million bucks?”
I have a best friend, who is kind of pushy, in a supportive sense, and I love her for it. For a solid year though, she has been questioning me as to why I don’t start a blog, put photos of myself on Instagram, or get actively involved in the health & fitness game & I always had some sort of excuse. Truth was, I felt insignificant, uninspiring & lame next to all the girls that already existed in the Instagram world. I thought, “Who would want to follow me?” Then I realised… Why do I need to be perfect? Perhaps there are some girls out their who need a role model the way I need a role model. Someone that goes out on a Thursday night & has a platter of sushi, then goes out again Friday night and has chicken & waffles, wakes up, goes to the gym & has a healthy breakfast & lunch & doesn’t beat herself up about the night before.
Well, I am not sure if I would call myself a role model, but I definitely want to try to be my own kind of role model. This is who I am! Sometimes I have 3-4 cheat days in a row, but it’s just life! Next week I will be better, next week I will try harder & train harder; but then the week after that I will probably eat like crap again. I realised this is just who I am. I can’t keep up with perfect. I like junk food, I like eating out, I like socialising & eating popcorn with extra salt at the movies, having a chocolate bar at night & enjoying a few bags of chips while watching the rugby game! It’s who I am, take it or leave it! 🙂
