I always enjoy running around town with my husband on weekends, exploring new restaurants, shops and markets. We live in such a creative and beautiful city with new things popping up all the time! I love it.
I am always so inspired when walking around the streets of Cape Town. It really is such a blessing to live in a community full of entrepreneurs and that we all support each other & our small businesses!
One of my favourite places that I want to share with you today that I feel truly passionate about, is the ORANJEZICHT CITY FARM MARKET. I know it has been around for ages & although Kyle and I have attempted to go on numerous occasions, we sadly never did until it moved to the Waterfront, much closer to home! WOW though, am I glad we finally went.
Raw & Healthy
It is such a beautiful farmers market that happens every Saturday from 9am – 2pm! It is filled with fresh organic produce, as well as delicious, healthy, raw and cooked foods to snack on. They also have an area where you can buy everything, from your own edible plants and seedlings to DIY compost supplies and adorable baskets to carry your produce in. There are so many little hidden treats to discover each time you go and unique produce you don’t see in our grocery stores. It really opens your eyes to how colourful fruit and vegetables can be when they are organic and not full of pesticides or flown in from overseas. These veggies are as fresh and nutritious as it gets.
Why not go local?
I absolutely love the thought of local organic produce right here at our finger tips. Getting back to basics and supporting local farmers. It brings me back to my childhood & all the days of gathering our shopping in the local farmers market every weekend with my parents in Texas. Makes me all warm and fuzzy.
Local Is Lekker!
I am glad to see this is a trend that is catching on. Eating organic should be available to everyone. It is sad to think how common chemicals and pesticides are on the produce we eat these days for convenience and affordability in our grocery stores. However, hopefully organic food supply will only continue to grow and we must encourage the growth! Go check out the market this Saturday, buy a couple things, support our local producers & make your body happy with goodness, I promise you won’t regret it! ♥
